HONEYMOON COTTAGES, FAMILY GATHERINGS
MAINE COAST VACATION COTTAGES AND CABINS.

A real Maine coast cottage vacation getaway for kids of all ages! Many styles! Choose your favorite cottage in which to relax, cozy up by the fire, or return to after a day's adventure. You'll love your laid back vacation here!
Your Dog is Welcome in Birches Cottage.

Choose your own Maine coast vacation cottage! Imagine yourself in a rustic log style retreat high on a hill overlooking the islands and East Penobscot Bay. Or, picture yourself cozied onto a sofa with a real woodburning fireplace, crackling fire, and view of the ocean right below outside your window! Envision your family playing board games on a screened porch with the smell and feel of gentle sea breezes and the sound of seagulls at the nearby beach! Delightful! After a day of fun and adventure relax with dinner in your own cottage or at one of the wonderful restaurants nearby.

We have 10 family-sized cottages scattered along the shorefront or nestled amongst the trees. Cottages have from one to two bedrooms and come with simple, rustic, yet sophisticated comforts. They have spacious living rooms and real wood-burning fireplaces and hide-a-bed couches that can sleep another person or two.

There are a variety of kitchens or kitchenettes; some sophisticated, some funky rustic, cabin cool, all with utensils. Some cottages are log-cabin style built specifically for certain illustrious past guests from trees harvested on the property a half-Century ago. Each has its own distinct personality, well-maintained antique furnishings; and, stories to tell. Others have clapboard siding. Others are relatively new. It's hard for guests to decide which is their favorite. Daily housekeeping and firewood delivery in season. For those cozy, lazy summer mornings when you want to stay put we will deliver a breakfast basket with delicious morning food and beverage items (please make your request a day in advance). Several nearby local restaurants and bakeries serve breakfast and sell wonderful fresh baked items daily.

Centrally located on the Blue Hill Peninsula with lots of nearby activities, our Maine coast vacation cottages are ideal for couples, families with children, and grandparents with grandchildren. We can provide a porta-crib or high chair if needed. None of the cottages have phones. This is on purpose. The first public phone booth installed on old Oakland House Hotel's porch still serves guests, now with credit cards.

Our WiFi is installed in all the cottages and it works well for guests who desire to keep in touch with friends and family with email, facebook and basic low bandwidth browsing. Nearby Blue Hill Public Library has WiFi as does Marlintini's Restaurant and the Barn Castle Restaurant in Blue Hill. Your own modern "box" internet receiver might work in certain locations. Cell phone reception is more or less reliable in some locations on site depending upon your service provider. We find that AT&T's new tower helps quite a bit.

  • We welcome a well-behaved dog with its owners to Birches Cottage only.
  • Our pet policies apply. Thank-you.
  • All cottages are non-smoking. Smoking permitted on the porches only. Thank-you.
